Scott Ashby's freshman collection is called diabolus in musica — the devil in music, named after the flat five interval in music theory called the tritone. The medieval Catholic Church banned this interval. Composers were excommunicated for using it. The tritone refuses to resolve. It sits in dissonance.

Purple Haze uses the tritone. Black Sabbath uses the tritone. West Side Story uses the tritone.

It's the forbidden chord. The ugly chord. The dissonant interval. The note you're not supposed to play.

The ugly chord is the only honest one. Our damage isn't something to fix — it's our signature sound.
